Acoustical
The new Federal Center South Building 1202 reuse portions of the existing warehouse that stood on the site previously. Approximately 100,000 board feet of salvageable structural timber and 200,000 board feet of decking was reclaimed to form the commons foundation, structural system, and interior cladding. These recycled wood with acoustical ceiling systems and noise-absorbing panels reduce reverberation and noise transmissions and absorb the noisy sound from outside or other interior spaces.
Workplace Acoustic Environment
For this project, architects want to keep with the Green construction design, they use a large amount of glass in the exterior walls to allow natural light to penetrate to the center of the building. The challenge is that this lack of blocking, combined with the hard surfaces in the interior of the building, creates an office that allows conversations to be heard from long distance. As this consequence, the method to increase productivity and confidentiality is sound masking system.
This system can be tuned by software to local conditions, ensuring that it’s comfortable and effective across the entire work space, In particular, the sound masking system will introduce a sound into facility, but the level of speech privacy, noise control and comfort received depends on the size of its adjustment zones and the degree of control offered within each one, designers use the smallest zones (1 to 3 loudspeakers) with the finest adjustments.
From the POE part, we can know the acoustic satisfaction about this building.
